Everything you need to know about laser hair removal
We use a medical grade laser called Fotona SP Dynamis that does a variety of treatments but the most common treatment we do is laser hair removal.
The laser is attracted to melanin (pigment in the hair) and the heat travels down the hair into the root and destroys the bulb ( hair follicle). Blonde hair is trickier to treat, although it can work, the laser isn’t as effective for removal, due to very little pigment within the hair follicle.
We can treat all skin types (fitzpatrick 1-6) and hair colours excluding white/grey hair due to there being no pigment in the follicle.
Every single person has different growth, genetics, and hair that differs when getting laser and varies in results.
A common misconception is that the hair will be completely gone after three to five treatments and never grow again. You can expect to need at least 6 to 12 treatments every four to six weeks to achieve a 70 percent to 90 percent overall reduction. After every treatment, you will see a gradual lessening of hair: The hair will start growing finer, lighter, and slower. It is permanent, however you may need a few maintenance treatments if you start to see the hair growth coming in stronger.
Prepping is easy! Shave the night before your treatment, avoid any moisturizer on your skin, don’t wear any deodorant and most importantly don’t pluck, wax your hair during the course of your laser treatments!
Does it hurt? Everyone has a different pain tolerance but for the most part, no. Some areas are more sensitive then others but it’s very manageable. To help with the heat from the laser, we have a cooling wand that blows cold air directly onto the area being treated.
Laser hair removal is not scary, and you should not be scared to get that hair free body you’ve always dreamed of having!
