How to pick the right foundation for your skin?

1. Determine your undertone: You can always do that by looking at the veins in your wrists. If you have more green, that means you're most likely warm (more yellow or orange). If they're more blue you are most likely cool (more pinks or reds in skin). If you can't figure it out, you're more likely neutral (in between or both). Another way to determine is if yellow gold looks better on you, you have a warm undertone and if silver looks better on you, you have a cool undertone. If you can rock both you're more likely neutral.

2. Determine whether you have oily or dry skin: For oily go for a more matte finish or powder based to help tame the shine. For dry you need something more hydrating so that dryness is not accentuated.

3. Decide what kind of coverage you like/need: if you have more blemishes on your skin, you might want something full to medium coverage. Less blemishes you might just need a bb cream or something a little more sheer for a more natural look. Side note: a lot of people feel like they need to pack on a lot of make up to cover blemishes but it only accentuates or makes it very noticeable that you are trying to cover something up. Tips: Less is more and concealer can be used as a corrector for more stubborn blemishes.

4. Always make sure you match with your neck! It's always better to have a lighter foundation that you can darken up with some bronzer. This is much easier than having to bring a darker one all the way down your neck.

5. Remember a lot of the time foundation oxidizes about a shade or two once it sets and powders on top can darken you're foundation colour as well.

6. Use a primer! It will not only help your foundation last, but it will allow it to look seamless on skin and bring out the best colour of the foundation.
